25th Anniversary Appeal

Throughout 2007 - the 25th Anniversary of the liberation of the Falkland Islands - the Chapel Trustees mounted an appeal to raise funds to keep the Chapel in good condition for the thousands of visitors it receives each year. The appeal exceeded all expectations and the Chapel Trust has received a healthy injection of funds exceeding £200,000.

Fundraising events included a dinner on board HMS Victory by courtesy of the Second Sea Lord, Vice Admiral Adrian Johns, donations from the sale of Internet Stamps Covers organised by Tony Buckingham of Buckingham Stamps, a sale of sculptures created by Mark Coreth (who created the three bronze albatrosses which 'fly' outside the Chapel), a Falklands Shield Golf Tournament on a private golf course in Oxfordshire, a 'team of two' runners in the 10K London Run, and contributions from many of the City Livery Companies, Services Charities, & Charitable Trusts.

In addition, hundreds of individuals generously supported the Appeal and the Trustees would like to thank all those who have helped the Chapel so generously over the past year.

Flower Arranging Masterclass

Following our popular & successful Flower Festival to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Falklands War last year the Chapel Flower Guild are organising a demonstration of flower arranging by Glenis Smith, a very talented artist with flowers, & one of the exhibitors at the May Festival. Glenis is a regular member of the Chapel Rota of Flower Arrangers, a qualified National Association of Flower Arranging Societies (NAFAS) demonstrator, and is currently Chairman of the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Area of NAFAS. It is hoped that the demonstration will be preceded by a short music recital.

This will take place on Friday, November 7th 2008 at 19:30. Further details will be sent to those interested in the summer: Please send a stamped addressed envelope (6"x8" approx) at any time from now on to: Mrs Sadie Clare, FIMC Flower Guild, Hollins, Pangbourne Road, Upper Basildon, Reading RG8 8LN.
