Annual Service 2008

Please join us on Sunday June 15th for our special annual Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving in the Falkland Islands Memorial Chapel at Pangbourne. The Service begins at 12.00hrs. Our Guest of Honour will be former Second Sea Lord Vice Admiral Adrian Johns & his wife, and the preacher will be The Venerable John Green. No tickets will be issued this year but if you would like to attend please ring Angela Perry (01295 738123) so that enough refreshments are provided after the Service.

It has come to our attention that there may be members of families who have been unable to attend our Annual Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving due to ill health, inability to travel distances unaccompanied, or budgetary constraints. In such special circumstances it may be possible for the Trustees to give a measure of assistance for those who have been regularly unable to visit the Chapel in June but would like to do so as long as funds are available for the purpose. In this case a letter of application should be sent via the Secretary to the Trustees before the end of April.

Advance Notice of Chapel Refurbishment

The Chapel will be closed from July 7th 2008 for six weeks for refurbishment. At all other times the Chapel is open daily from 0900-1700.

Hire of the Chapel

The Chapel is available for hire for weddings, reunions or charitable events subject to availability and Health & Safety regulations. Interested parties should contact Rev. Brian Cunningham at the College for special arrangements.

Garden of Remembrance

Families wishing to contribute to the SAMA (South Atlantic Medal Association) 'Garden of Remembrance' web site - which is accessible in the Chapel Memorial Room - are encouraged to contact the Association; many families have already contributed information about their loved ones but others may not know of its existence.

For information or web site contributions Mark Griffin, SAMA's Webmaster, will be pleased to hear from you - at: webmaster@sama82.org

The Chapel Library

Contains virtually every book written about the Falklands War. These books are for reading at the Chapel and are not to be borrowed and taken away. The Library includes The RAF Cottesmore Diary of Memorabilia. The Chapel has been presented with a marvelous diary of combat mission reports and photographs carried out by the No 1 (Fighter) Squadron from RAF Cottesmore in 1982. It is rather precious but available for viewing in the Chapel on request to the Chaplain.

Fund-raising events

If you wish to organise a fund-raising event, please contact Angela Perry at Wroxton Mill, Shutford Road, Wroxton, Banbury, Oxon, OX15 6EZ. Your call will be very welcome.

If you wish to make a gift

Any gift, especially if given under the gift aid scheme, will help to keep the Chapel in prime condition and will be much appreciated by the Trustees. Please see the "Support" page.
